Status: Full-Time | Exempt | Salaried

Compensation Group: Experienced

Compensation Range: $65,000-75,000

Reports to: Head Registrar

Hours: Mon – Fri, 9:00am – 5:30pm

Job Summary:

Minnesota Street Project Art Services is seeking a full-time (onsite) Registrar with at least 2-3

years’ experience as a registrar in a museum, gallery, private collection, or art services company.

The Registrar will exhibit a friendly and approachable demeanor with all Project clients, staff, and

vendors, acting as a positive ambassador for the Art Services business, as well as the overall

Project. This person must value stewardship, as it relates to caring for collections in our custody and our teams. This person will demonstrate understanding of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Access in the arts and in our daily lives, has cultural flexibility/agility, and a commitment to fostering a respectful and inclusive work environment.

Responsibilities
  • Exhibits a friendly and approachable demeanor with all Minnesota Street Project clients, staff, and vendors, acting as a positive ambassador for Art Services, as well as the overall Project; maintains excellent relationships with clientele, including collectors, galleries, institutions, consultants, and other arts professionals, ensuring industry- leading client satisfaction; ensures strong communication is facilitated and deadlines are continually met.

  • Assists Collection Care department with maintaining overall collection management quality control per museum standards.

  • Works with a methodical and detailed approach to document and inventory works in the warehouse and off-site (at client’s residence/business/institution).

  • Anticipates bookings/projects and takes all necessary steps to streamline the incoming and outgoing processes; makes proposals for process changes to Collection Care team and trains to implement data collection/inventory documentation as needed.

  • Inventories and tracks artworks coming into storage and keeps client database records continually updated with requested movement; directly and proactively suggests additional action (packing/handling recommendations) to safeguard artworks in storage/transit.

  • Leads large condition report and inventory projects in the field; collaborates with Registration team for large inhouse projects and attends Emergency Preparedness site visits.

  • Generates work orders for re-housing, condition report templates, and object lists as needed.

  • Assists with handling/packing artwork on-site when needed; ability to safely lift 50+ lbs individually and 75+lbs as a team.

  • Manages Registration-based contributions to our monthly invoicing process for assigned clients; ensures accurate storage volumes and links artwork movement scans to associated jobs.

  • Works closely with Field Team Manager and Warehouse Manager to train, manage quality control, and promote consistency.

  • Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements
  • BA in Museum Studies, or equivalent, required. MA preferred.

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in museum/gallery/art logistics.

  • Has experience working with various databases/collection management systems.

  • Ability to quickly identify and resolve problems, effectively prioritize, and manage time efficiently, ensuring projects stay on schedule; self starter with an ability to shift between tasks and take direction.

  • Customer-service minded; past experience in a client facing role preferred.

  • Demonstrated concern for detail, accuracy, and precise execution of work; excellent communication skills, both verbally and written.

  • Proficient with PC and Mac operating systems and software, including Adobe and Microsoft Suites; knowledgeable with the G Suite; database software experience required.
