Hales Gallery seeks a Sales and Artist Relationship Assistant who is organized, motivated and self-driven to join the New York office on a full time basis. The role will support the New York director in sales, artist liaison and general gallery tasks.

Duration/hours: Full-time (Tuesday through Saturday), 10am-6pm.

Salary: Commensurate with experience.

Benefits: Healthcare, Dental/Eye. Retirement after 1 year.

Responsibilities

Duties:

  • Prepare and send exhibition and art fair sales outreach (email and print)

  • Respond to sales enquiries on behalf of the Director.

  • Respond to front desk enquiries and talk visitors through exhibition when required to do so.

  • Generate outreach lists for each exhibition from contact database.

  • Maintain up to date and detailed contact entries in database.

  • Maintain and manage ongoing sales conversations in shared spreadsheet.

  • Maintain and manage Artsy and SeeSaw presence.

  • Art fair duties.

  • Research of private and public collection for focused outreach.

  • Support director in effectively supporting gallery artists with their day to day needs.

  • Organize and monitor artist travel plans and itineraries.

  • Maintain up to date artist schedules for internal and external use.

  • Maintain daily schedule of general office duties, including opening/closing office.

  • General front desk duties.

  • Work opening nights and support in event preparations.

  • To promote and maintain productive relations as an ambassador for the gallery.

Requirements

Skills:

  • Thorough, organized, team-minded, resourceful, detail-orientated, and professional effective communication with colleagues, artists, clients, and vendors.

  • Candidates must possess strong written and communication skills. An acute attention to detail is key, as is multi-tasking, prioritization, and efficiency with assigned tasks. Superior professionalism when communicating via email, phone, and in-person is essential. Experience with ‘Art Logic’ database systems is preferable though not essential.
