Jim Kempner Fine Art, located in Chelsea, is seeking a full time Sales Associate. We are looking for a polished and dedicated Sales Associate with excellent communication skills, who is both a self-starter and a collaborative team player. The ideal candidate loves to interact with the public and can thrive in a fast-paced and high-end art gallery. This individual must be extremely detail oriented with the ability to multitask.
The hours are from 10 - 6 pm Tuesday through Saturday with flexibility to work nights for show openings and art fairs.
Greet visitors and interface with gallery clients
Maintain excellent and thorough understanding of our current exhibitions and gallery inventory, as well as, the ability to convey knowledge to clients
Develop customer relationships and maintain current relationships
Update and maintain client database with all relevant interest and contact information
Represent Jim Kempner Fine Art and sell at art fairs
Aid in writing press releases for exhibitions
Assist gallery owner with private viewings
Aid in general administrative support
Respond to online sales inquiries
Work collaboratively with gallery staff to build content and connections in social media platforms to boost visibility, grow following and promote key items to support sales.
Compensation based on experience.
3 years working for an art gallery, auction house, or other related field
Masters degree preferred
Outgoing, friendly person who is comfortable interacting with the public, gallery staff, and working in a high-end retail environment
Excellent telephone and written communication skills
Knowledge of contemporary art, art history, photography, painting, sculpture and prints
Flexible team player with an enthusiastic attitude, sense of humor and willingness to assist in all necessary gallery functions and duties
Knowledge and proficiency with Creative Adobe Suite (Indesign, Photoshop and Illustrator) and working knowledge of Filemaker or other database management system
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
