Job Summary

The Studio Manager is a pivotal role, serving as the operational backbone for the artist. This position’s primary focus is the production of final master prints for gallery and museum exhibitions as well as for the studio. In addition, you will be responsible for all day to day operations of the studio including managing a digital and physical archive, help plan and produce gallery and museum exhibitions, and maintain the artists website. About the Artist

The artist is a fine art photographer working in Los Angeles, CA. The artist’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally including recent exhibitions at PhotoLondon, Pier 24, and The de Young Museum. His work has been collected by numerous prestigious institutions including, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, The High Museum in Atlanta and several others.

Responsibilities

Print Production:

  • Operate and maintain Canon imagePROGRAF 4100.

  • Perform professional image editing / retouching in Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, including color correction, spot removal, and sharpening.

  • Manage color profiles for screens and printers to ensure consistent and accurate output.

  • Produce, handle, and archive large-scale fine art prints

Digital Asset & Archive Management:

  • Manage and update the artist’s website using WordPress.

  • Manage and maintain multiple RAID storage devices and cloud backups.

  • Organize and maintain the digital archive of all artist files.

  • Create and maintain a digital and physical logbook of all finished pieces and collectors

Studio Operations & Inventory:

  • Oversee the daily functioning of the studio, including organizing and maintaining the physical space.

  • Manage the inventory of all essential studio products and supplies, including ordering and maintaining relationships with distributors.

Exhibition Management:

  • Help plan and produce exhibitions in galleries and museums.

  • Coordinate all logistics for exhibitions, including liaising with galleries, museums, and clients; and managing art handling and installation.

Administrative and Financial Management:

  • Handle correspondence, including responding to inquiries, managing emails, and preparing professional communications.

  • Create and manage all invoices.

  • Track expenses for all studio-related purchases and credits when a collector purchases a piece

Artist Support:

  • Assist with research for new projects, commissions, contests and exhibitions.

  • Coordinate with contractors, framers, and distributors as needed.

  • Assist the artist on local photoshoots

Requirements

Experience:

Previous work in a print production role with a focus on photography, BFA or MFA preferred but not required.

Technical Skills:

  • Proven proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop and Lightroom.

  • Experience with color management and fine art printing.

  • Strong knowledge of data storage and backup practices, including RAID and cloud solutions.

  • Experience managing and maintaining websites using WordPress.

Organizational Skills:

Exceptional organizational and productivity skills, with an ability to create and maintain consistency across multiple aspects of the studio.

Personal Attributes:

Self-motivated, flexible, and comfortable working independently in a creative environment.
