Woody De Othello Studio seeks an experienced Studio Manager to join the team. Your primary role as studio manager will be production lead on all projects and a key communicator between artist and the rest of the team. You will be instrumental in helping the studio achieve the highest level production for regularly scheduled exhibitions.

Over the past decade the studio has built an international reputation for creating exceptionally crafted ceramics, paintings, and large-scale bronze sculptures which have been exhibited in leading museums, galleries and art institutions across the globe. While the studio primarily focuses on ceramics, it is expanding into other materials like wood. This position is a unique opportunity to join the studio in its next phase of development. The ideal candidate will be a self-driven, highly motivated individual with extensive experience in various sculptural methods, a unique ability to problem solve and working knowledge in contemporary art.

Responsibilities
  • Leading production of newly commissioned works

  • Maintaining production schedule and managing timelines

  • Delegating regular studio upkeep and maintenance (trash, clay and glaze reclaim cycles, communicating when supplies need to be reordered, and more)

  • Managing studio assistant(s)

  • Researching new fabrication methods

  • Working closely with registrar to communicate details of each work (eta of completion, materials, final sizes, glaze information, specific notes such and installation of artwork and how to handle)

  • Communication with Operations Manager regarding bronze production

Requirements

At least 2 years working in a studio

BFA or MFA in fine art

Ample knowledge of Ceramic practices. This includes glazing, hand building, kiln management, clay recycling, mold making etc.

Ability to load and unload the kiln (lifting heavy works)

Experience in woodworking and power tools

Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite

Organized, detail-oriented, industrious, self-motivated, with good interpersonal and communication skills

You are someone who is eager to learn new techniques and implement them

Working knowledge of SketchUp or Rhino a plus
