With minimum supervision, oversee the illustration program for individual Getty publications. Source and purchase reproduction-quality images for use in publication projects. Negotiate licenses and permissions for reproduction of images, identify legal restrictions in their use, and develop and maintain records of these agreements.
Works with illustration program for individual publications as provided by Editorial, determines the source of reproduction quality images required, and negotiates licenses for their use with image vendors, museums, galleries, private art collectors and artists. Tracks progress against book project budget and alerts management to any significant variance
Works collaboratively with staff in the Registrar’s Office who order images and permissions for exhibition-related objects that will be illustrated in Getty publications
Develops and maintains logs of images and text rights to ensure that legal restrictions for image use are recorded and available for future reference
Produces materials to show illustration sequence in each publication, and handles digital asset management of image files for transmittal to design and production teams
Approves payment of image permissions-related invoices
Qualifications
GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred
3-5 years experience in photo licensing industry and experience working with digital images
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Microsoft Office and Adobe CS 6, Adobe Acrobat, familiarity with Filemaker a plus
Familiarity with one or more European languages a plus
Knowledge of art history and of intellectual property and copyright issues as applied in the visual arts required
Excellent organizational and communication skills
