Cheekwood is seeking seasonal weekly part-time Volunteer Program Assistants to help recruit, schedule and manage volunteers for Cheekwood exhibits and events. Working under the Volunteer Department, the Volunteer Program Assistant must be outgoing, people friendly, and enjoy working with the public. Must be organized, flexible, good problem solvers, able to handle some management responsibilities and can follow directions without direct supervision.
The Volunteer Program Assistant will assist with:
Chihuly at Cheekwood exhibit and events programming support
Other Cheekwood events as needed
Volunteer Program Assistant duties include but are not limited to:
Organizing volunteer scheduling, check in, making assignments and management during the event/shifts
Working as a team member side by side with Cheekwood staff
Communications with volunteers and Cheekwood staff
Representing Cheekwood with professionalism and hospitality
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will be at least 21 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent; experience volunteering or working in a team environment and working events in a public-facing organization; excellent customer service, communication and time management skills; ability to work some weekdays, weekend or evening hours; experience using Microsoft Office and the ability to respond to emergency situations calmly and follow protocols. Must also be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds, work in noisy environments, walk and stand for extended periods of time and the ability to work in various weather conditions, as many events and activities are outdoors.
Preferred Skills: An interest in art, horticulture, community events and knowledge of Cheekwood.
