The primary responsibility of the Warehouse Manager is to manage and coordinate the daily activities and workflows of both warehouse locations in concert with crating and trucking departmental needs. In this role the position will be required to work across GWLA departments to achieve operational success. This position reports directly to the Operations Manager.
Supervise and manage the daily activities of the warehouse, including staff and staff scheduling/assignments, inventory control, space management, logistics, and floor productivity
Manage department calendar ensuring that warehouse requests (Receipts, releases, pulls, viewings, inventories etc.) are sufficiently staffed and scheduled
Work closely with Storage Registrar to ensure that client requests can be met along appropriate timelines
Manage inventory/paperwork and object tracking within the warehouse for efficient locating
Communicate concerns, issues and/or problems with condition reports (condition of items), packing/crating orders, schedules, deadlines, etc. with management and account holders.
Communicate with project managers to ensure that timelines are met
Meet regularly with warehouse leads to review, analyze, and develop actionable plans for productivity and loss prevention
Perform site surveys as necessary in anticipation of warehouse impact
Ensure the warehouse operates at peak efficiency, by supervising, organizing, directing, and training warehouse employees and establishing, monitoring and managing operation goals.
Review and Approve Artichecks via portal for completeness and consistency
Inspect warehouse equipment, tools, and machinery regularly, and oversee general maintenance as needed
Maintain Confidentiality of clients’ personal property and privacy
Perform other tasks consistent with these responsibilities as required
4-6 years prior experience as a Warehouse Manager ideally in a Fine Art Shipping environment
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Team player and ability to work well in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment independently and as part of a team
Creativity, Flexibility as well as problem solving skills and strong work ethic
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Attention to detail
Candidate must have a current CA drivers license and be able to successfully pass a background check
Familiarity with current Art Handling and Packing protocols a plus
