Los Angeles Modern Auctions seeks a full-time Warehouse Manager to join our dynamic and industrious team. Reporting to the Managing Director, the role’s main responsibilities include managing a team of handlers, the flow of inventory through production cycle, and implementing operational projects to drive continuous improvements and growth. This role calls for exceptional project management, leadership and operational skills.

As the first auction house to specialize in 20th century art and design, LAMA plays an integral role in establishing the market for some of today’s most celebrated artists and designers. In 2021, LAMA joined Rago/Wright, a company with $100+ million in annual sales, a team of 100, and more than one century of combined experience across our four auction houses. In 2022, LAMA tripled processing volume, and the company is on track to continue this growth trajectory in 2023.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of at least 3 property handlers

  • Lead fast-paced, high-volume property cycle, encompassing property intake, storage, handling for cataloguing and photography departments, exhibition, and client collection

  • Continuously identify and improve facility and processes to optimize operations and productivity

  • Ensure facility and team adhere to professional standards in safety, cleanliness, and art and design handling

  • Contribute to handling, installation, and fabrication efforts as projects require

  • Potential to scale the handling team and facilities in response to business growth

Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in auction house operations or a similarly fast-paced, high-volume, variable warehouse environment with art and design focus

  • Excellent project and time management skills

  • Energetic, positive demeanor; ability to motivate and foster strong team dynamic

  • Eager to take responsibility and ownership of roles and project outcomes; proven ability to take initiative and easily adapt in a fast-changing environment

  • Possess growth mindset; views challenges as opportunities to learn and improve

  • Willing and able to operate order picker; company will sponsor certification as needed

  • Proficiency in best handling practices for art, design and decorative arts is a significant advantage

  • Ability to safely lift at least 50 pounds as part of daily activities; ability to work standing, bending, and lifting for extended periods
