The British Shop, Inc. is leading Fine Art & Antiques shipping and storage company with operations and warehouses in Bronx, New York and London, UK. We seek an experienced Driver to join our New York team. Established experience and proven work ethic will determine base pay rate, with room to advance in our growing US business.
Responsibilities
Driver / Art and Furniture Handler Requirements:
Driver 26-foot (non-CDL) art truck within the tristate area, and occasionally out of state.
Effective time management and commitment to teamwork
Inspecting items to determine proper procedures for handling, packing and transport
Selecting proper archival and other packing materials for the job at hand
Packing and crating artworks and furniture of all descriptions
Installation/de-Installation of art
Disassembling and re-assembling furniture of all periods
Preparing condition reports and photographs
Completing critical paperwork such as inventories and bills of lading with accuracy and attention to detail
Comfortable working on ladders, scaffolding or mechanized lifts
Professional appearance and conduct
Interaction with art professionals, interior designers, private collectors and their staff
Good verbal and written communication skills
Requirements
The following qualities will be evaluated for compensation at the higher range of hourly rates:
Crew Chief experience
Knowledge of Articheck condition reports
Certified operator of forklift or scissors lift
Rigging experience
Art Fair experience
Qualifications:
Fluent in English
Valid Driver License (Commercial Driver License not required)
Clean driving record
