Established artist studio in South Central Los Angeles seeks an experienced Art Installer & Fabricator. The successful candidate will be able to prioritize concurrent projects in a creative environment. The Art Installer & Fabricator will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including art handlers, artists, designers, carpenters, engineers, painters and sculptors. The candidate will work face to face due to the hands on and collaborative nature of the work. This is a project based position for a 4 month term with the possibility of growth and additional work following the completion of the project.
Responsibilities:
Take accurate measurements
Handle and install artwork securely
Experience with fundamental shop power tools, understanding of how things go together
Project management and organization skills
Care and concern to general Studio spaces
2 years of art handling in a gallery setting
Strong understanding of art handling industry standards
Experience hanging multiple artworks on large grids or walls
Must be able to lift 40lbs
Must be comfortable working at heights up to 25 Feet
Basic Metal Working skills (accurately drilling and tapping)
Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively within a team
Ability to operate a scissor lift
Extreme attention to detail
Desired but not required
Art Handling in a Museum or Institutional Setting
Experience working with concrete and cement
3D modeling & CAD experience
Undergraduate degree in Design, Art, Industrial Design, Construction, Engineering or similar
