I am a multi-media artist working across photography, video, sculpture and sound with a studio located in the Excelsior district in San Francisco. I am seeking an individual who is highly organized, a clear communicator, and wants to foster a constructive and efficient working relationship. The desired applicant should have strong writing skills, with an interest in composing and submitting proposals for grants, commissions and other opportunities. A background in either photography, art criticism, or museum practices is desired but not essential for the appropriate candidate. Flexible, 8 - 20 hours per week.
Responsibilities
Projects may include:
Facilitating overall workflow of projects, including research, production, installations
Maintaining a clean, organized studio environment
Handling, installing, documenting, and shipping artwork
Maintaining a digital art inventory, updating website, generating social media posts and PR, book-keeping and production tracking
Liaising with galleries, curators, writers, and fabricators
Research opportunities, drafting and submitting proposals for grants and commissions
Location and studio-based photography and video
Assisting with large-format digital printing
Exhibition planning and design
Requirements
Skills required:
Familiarity, interest, and fluency in contemporary art
An openness to learn new skills on the job and adapt to the needs of a given project
An ability to take initiative, multitask, assess and respond to the short and long term goals
Adobe Photoshop, Apple Pages / Word, Google Drive, Cargo
Skills desired:
Adobe Creative Suite, including Lightroom, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Indesign, Adobe Illustrator, SketchUp, and Apple Logic
Digital printing, digital photo retouching, digital video/music/sound editing, graphic design
Experience working with metal, wood and other sculptural materials
