Dustin Yellin studio seeks to add multiple positions to our fabrication team. We are considering applicants with relevant experience and/or training for the Fabricator / Art Handler position, and applicants with additional relevant experience for the Shop Manager position.
Both are primarily hands-on positions. The Manager position includes all of the responsibilities of the Fabricator/Art Handler position, with additional management responsibilities.
We will consider both full-time and part-time applicants. Rate depends on qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities
Shop Fabrication
Building “jigs” primarily from wood, to be used in artwork assembly.
Building other studio fixtures & furniture as needed
Art Handling
Moving / Rigging extremely heavy, extremely delicate artworks with a forklift following established procedures
Occasional conventional art handling incl. hanging flatworks, moving sculptures, etc.
Studio Production
Lifting glass panes
Cleaning & assembling glass panes to studio specifications.
Assisting resin pours
General Studio
Accepting deliveries
Cleaning / organizing shop and studio
Moving furniture, objects, etc…
Occasional off-site errands
If Applying as Shop Manager
All above-listed responsibilities, plus:
Maintain overview & facilitate artwork production from start to finish
Delegate responsibilities to fabrication team
Facilitate shipping / receiving of artworks (with studio Registrar)
Purchasing & related admin
Communication (email / phone) with clients & vendors on relevant subjects
Point of contact for all facilities maintenance
Requirements
Qualifications:
Basic Woodshop skills
Art Handling Skills
Forklift experience
Rigging experience
Driver’s license
Added Value
Casting/moldmaking skills
Glass Cold Working skills
Metalworking skills
If Applying as Shop Manager
All of the above requirements, plus:
4+ years relevant managerial / team leader experience
Goal-oriented
Professional communication skills
Demonstrated organizational skills
