An established contemporary artist’s studio in Los Angeles seeks a fabricator for a full-time position. This is a dynamic studio engaged in a wide variety of international projects that are rigorous in both technical and conceptual ambition. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative, deadline-driven, production-oriented environment, and will compliment the artist and highly skilled studio team in continuing to evolve the studio’s capabilities. Candidates with at least 2 years of professional experience in another workshop, fabrication facility, or similar environment are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities
  • End-to-end sculpture fabrication using a variety of materials and techniques

  • Assisting other fabricators and studio director in preparing wood, metal, and other materials for small and large works

  • Fabricating of pedestals, boxes, shelves, panels, and any other apparatus necessary for display

  • Maintaining tools and equipment

  • Keeping the shop orderly and clean at all times

  • Miscellaneous assistance and errands as needed for projects

Requirements
  • Proficiency with standard shop tools (table saw, chop saw, circular saw, jigsaw, bandsaw, bench grinder, belt sander, orbital sander, drill press)

  • Proficiency with standard computer office and graphics software

  • Ability to lift 50 lb unassisted

  • Ability to read and understand shop drawings, architectural blueprints, and renderings

Additional Skills:

  • Welding: Familiarity with welding (MIG/TIG, brazing and soldering)

  • Electrical: Understanding of wiring DC and AC electrical components. Able to use a multimeter, soldering, constructing basic circuits including switches, LEDs and other components. Experience with amplifiers and other AV equipment.

  • Experience with Epoxy Resin and/or mold making
