ABOUT THE POSITION
Over The Influence Los Angeles seeks timely, highly motivated, organized and collaborative freelance professional Art Handlers. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with timely preference given to individuals with immediate September availability.
ABOUT OTI
Over the Influence was founded in Hong Kong in 2015 and expanded to Los Angeles in 2018. The gallery announced its Southeast Asian debut in 2021 by opening a third gallery in Bangkok. Meanwhile 2022 celebrates the fourth gallery space in Paris.
The gallery represents an international roster of emerging and established artists working across different mediums and disciplines, and provides them with global opportunities through fairs, special projects, and overseas exposure. Over the Influence supports artists and the infrastructure of artists where they are living and working while offering global opportunities through the various gallery locations and special projects.
Responsibilities
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Safe handling, packing, unpacking, installing and deinstalling of fine artworks
Work on a team to load and unload trucks and hande large crates with efficiency and care
Assist with inventory recordkeeping and organization
Maintain and manage a to do list
Accurately record hours and prepare PDF invoices
Communication and collaboration: knowing when to ask questions, ability to ask for help when needed and communicating with other handlers to create an effective team
Ability to perform under pressure and with discretion
Requirements
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Two (2) years experience working as an art handler, preparator or installation technician in a fine art context
Knowledge of and interest in contemporary art
Knowledge of museum standard strategies for safe handling
Proficient in multiple packing and crating techniques including soft pack construction for paintings and sculptures
Experience moving crates with dolly, pallet jack and j bar
Ability to stay motivated, organized and accurate throughout the day
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly and stand for extended periods of time
Reliable transportation to our DTLA location
