We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a free lance Gallery Assistant.

As a Gallery Assistant, you will play a creative role in supporting the day-to-day operations of our art gallery.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about art and looking to gain experience in the art world.


The gallery assistant duties include but are not limited to:

  1. Customer Service: Greet visitors to the gallery warmly and provide them with information about current exhibitions, artists, and artwork on display.

  2. Sales Support: Assist with sales transactions, including processing purchases, handling payments, and packaging artwork for customers.

  3. Gallery Maintenance: Help maintain the cleanliness and organization of the gallery space, including dusting artwork, arranging displays, and ensuring artworks are properly and correctly labeled.

  4. Inventory Management: Assist in maintaining inventory records, including cataloging new artwork arrivals, updating database information, and conducting regular inventory checks. Maintaining proper storage practices.

  5. Event Assistance: Provide support during gallery events and openings, including setup, breakdown, and could include engaging guests in social media, sign up for emails/reviews/social media, to serving refreshments to guests,

  6. Administrative Tasks: Assist with general administrative duties, such as answering phone calls, responding to emails, and scheduling appointments.

  7. Promotion and Outreach: Assist with promotional activities, such as updating the gallery’s social media profiles, assisting with marketing materials, and engaging with visitors online.

  8. Art Handling: Handle artwork with care during transportation, installation, and storage, following established protocols to ensure artworks remain safe and secure at all times.

  9. Learning and Development: Take initiative to learn about the artists and artwork represented by the gallery, staying informed about current trends and developments in the art world.

  10. Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other gallery staff members to ensure the smooth operation of the gallery and contribute to a positive working environment.

  • High school diploma or equivalent, minimally.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

  • Does not require supervision

  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with office software

  • Ability to lift or assist and carry artwork up to 30 pounds

  • Passion for art and a desire to learn and grow in the art industry a plus.
