We are looking to immediately fill the position of Registrar based in the busy studio of an artist couple living and working in Los Angeles. The position will be focused on overseeing the care and documentation of both physical artwork inventory and our digital database. Our ideal candidate is detail oriented and has excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

Essential functions:

  • Managing the care and documentation of all artwork inventory, including handling, installation, storage, transportation, framing, condition documentation and conservation.

  • Maintaining and updating accurate, current and complete ArtBase records using standardized procedures. Ensuring correct measurements, work details, locations, exhibition history etc. Working closely with the archivist and production assistants to update records.

  • Managing shipping, packing, and documentation of incoming and outgoing work, including books and day-to-day FedEx shipments. Inspecting and recording condition and documentation of artwork inventory.

  • Coordinating with galleries to oversee the movement and display of artworks for exhibition and sale, including managing international customs procedures and coordinating with vendors on framing, plinth and display related fabrication.

  • Maintaining onsite and offsite storage of artwork and documents (e.g. books, project materials, bulk storage).

  • Generating, maintaining, and filing consignments, loans, and certificates of authenticity.

  • Supervising standards for safe artwork packing, handling, and shipping.

  • Tracking, reporting, and documenting auction results.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience working as a Registrar, or equivalent.

  • Expert knowledge of ArtBase and Apple products.

  • Excellent administrative skills, highly organized, professional, and discreet.

  • Strong communication skills with a collaborative nature. Ability to work well as part of a team, to take direction, to receive feedback, and to execute tasks accordingly.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects simultaneously while meeting schedule requirements.

  • Independent starter, detail oriented with highly developed time management and organizational skills.

  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and photography is preferred.

4 days a week, Mon-Thurs 10am - 6pm

Compensation will be commensurate with experience, benefits included.
