Temporary Preparators assist with gallery maintenance, art handling, exhibition installation, and exhibition deinstallation for the Scholastic Art Awards Student Exhibition from March 20 to March 26, 2023.
This is an hourly, non-exempt temporary position. Temporary Preparators report to the Program Manager of Youth Programs and Continuing Education.

Applicants must commit to attending all shifts.
WORK SCHEDULE:
CCA considers a full-time work week to be 37.5 hours per week. This is a part-time, temporary position, working as needed, up to 15 hours a week
Briefing
Monday, March 20 (time TBD, 1hr)
Installation
Wednesday, March 22 (11am-2pm)
Thursday, March 23 (11am-2pm)
Final cleanup
Sunday, March 26 (5pm-7pm)
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
The rate of pay for the position is $25.00 per hour.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performing tasks involved in displaying, storing, cleaning, cataloging, securing, transporting, and installing art exhibitions
Assisting artists, CCA faculty, students and gallery staff with the hanging, installation, and deinstallation of exhibitions
Spackling, painting, preparing walls and galleries to be exhibition-ready, if applicable
Setting lights for exhibitions
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Requires knowledge of: The standard tools, practices and methods used in painting; and the use of different materials such as various kinds of lumber, fabrics, plastics, mechanical fasteners and adhesives.
Requires ability to: Physically handle delicate and valuable works of art with extreme care at all times, including while unpacking, packing, moving, installing, uninstalling and storing.
Requires ability to: work from sketches and follow oral instructions as to construction and installation of museum exhibits.
Requires skill in the use of a variety of hand and power tools and in the use and application of various materials.
Physical & Dexterity Requirements: A combination of active work, which may involve event preparations and set up, and sedentary desk work. Frequently may require lifting 50 pounds, opening boxes or packages, standing for prolonged periods of time, and setting up tables, displays, and event equipment.
